Youth Director
TITLE: Youth Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth Director will direct and lead youth programming for Elementary, Middle School and High School age youth. The Youth Director shall seek to foster Christian community through building relationships with young people that strengthen their commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The Youth Director reports to:
- Pastors
- Congregational Council
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: The Youth Director should possess the following:
- Two years of leadership experience and/or formal training in Youth ministry
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university is preferred/or equivalent experience.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The Youth Director shall be a person with a strong commitment to the Christian faith, who is self motivated, enthusiastic and able to articulate the Gospel message, giving witness to that faith through example. This person must be able to organize, develop and encourage leadership, cooperation, respect, trust, and friendship with a youth group. This person must be able to relate well with youth and be able to delegate and work well with volunteers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Witness and proclaim the love of Jesus Christ in an effort to extend the Kingdom of God through the sharing of the Gospel and articulation of the Christian faith in relationships with the youth of our community
- Plan and implement age appropriate activities for Elementary, Middle and High School age youth that promote community through fellowship, fun and faith development.
- Promote Christian service through age appropriate service projects.
- Encourage young people to participate in all facets of the community of faith, including worship, education opportunities, VBS, youth activities summer service projects.
- Oversee the recruitment and training of adult volunteers to work with Elementary, Middle and High School age groups.
- Coordinate youth activities with other ministries of the congregation in cooperation with staff.
- Be in contact with office staff and provide a timely and accurate schedule of youth activities.
- Keep the youth and congregation informed of youth events by coordinating the publicity for youth activities through the appropriate vehicles provided by the church. (e.g. monthly newsletter, special mailings, emails, text, posters, bulletin announcements, web page, etc.)
- Maintain and keep current a file on youth, sponsors and volunteers consisting of phone, email, mailing lists and medical release forms.
- Coordinate fund-raising activities that support special youth activities and trips.
- Work with the Youth Council representative in preparation of an annual budget of Youth Ministry, and work to keep costs in budget.
- Assist pastors in confirmation instruction as requested
- Be involved in the life and fellowship of Trinity, through the worship, service, witness and education ministries of the church.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Pastors.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Average 40 hours per week.
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and functions requiring overnights for consecutive day events.
The Youth Director position is an at will position and can be terminated at any time, without notice, although a two week notice is preferable.
